The Industry Body for Global Workforce Enablement

Connecting the people and expertise behind a globally capable workforce.

TEMi – The Employee Mobility Institute is an industry body for professionals and organisations navigating the increasingly connected world of global talent, workforce mobility and international people management.

We bring together the people responsible for finding, moving, supporting and enabling talent across borders – creating a trusted environment to share knowledge, develop capability, strengthen professional practice and contribute to the issues shaping the global workforce.

From talent acquisition and international HR to mobility, immigration, tax, reward, relocation and workforce risk, TEMi connects expertise that has traditionally sat across different functions and disciplines.

What We Do

The way organisations access and deploy talent is changing.

International hiring, remote and distributed work, employee mobility, skills shortages, workforce compliance and cross-border employment are increasingly interconnected.

Yet the expertise required to manage them often sits across different teams, professions and external partners.

TEMi brings those worlds together.

Connect People and Expertise

We create trusted opportunities for professionals across global talent, international HR, workforce mobility and related specialist disciplines to connect, exchange experience and learn from one another.

Build Professional Capability

We help professionals build the knowledge and practical capability required to navigate an increasingly complex global workforce environment through professional development, peer learning, industry resources and shared practice.

TEMi is also home to GMP1® Certification, the only formal industry-backed professional certification of its kind in Australia and New Zealand, providing a recognised foundation in global mobility practice.

Strengthen the Industry Voice

Through our Industry Advisory Group, consultations, research and advocacy activities, TEMi creates a channel for employers and practitioners to contribute evidence and experience to issues affecting international talent and globally connected workforces.

We support informed, balanced discussion and help bring the practical realities facing organisations into broader industry conversations.

Recognise and Advance Good Practice

Through the Quest TEMi Awards, professional recognition, shared resources and industry collaboration, we recognise the people and organisations advancing practice across the global talent and workforce ecosystem.

One workforce. Many disciplines.

Managing talent across borders rarely belongs to one function.

A single workforce decision can involve talent acquisition, HR, mobility, immigration, tax, payroll, reward, relocation, risk, technology and employee experience.

  • Employee Experience

TEMi brings together the people working across those interconnected areas – from in-house professionals responsible for global talent and workforce programmes to the specialists and organisations that enable them.

What connects our community isn’t a particular job title. It’s the shared challenge of helping organisations and people work effectively across borders.

Our Story

Our industry has changed. So have we.

TEMi’s story began in 1998 as The Relocation Network, at a time when international workforce activity was largely centred around traditional expatriate relocation.

As organisations became more global and the way they found, moved, managed and supported talent changed, the profession expanded with it.

In 2013, we became The Employee Mobility Institute, recognising that relocation was only one part of a much broader employee mobility landscape. Our evolution has continued ever since – expanding our professional community, developing industry-backed certification, recognising excellence and creating a stronger voice for the profession.

Today, the boundaries between talent acquisition, global mobility, international HR, remote and distributed work, compliance and workforce strategy continue to blur. TEMi is evolving with them – connecting the people, disciplines and expertise organisations need to enable a globally capable workforce.
