Pictured below is Jake Hunt, one of many Quest team members you can reach out to if you are interested in learning more about corporate accommodation, or mentorship within the TEMi community.

Jake specialises in Mining, Oil, Gas, Utilities and Renewables. We recently interviewed him to find out what corporate accommodation trends he’s seeing in these sectors. Read on for his insights.

Q: What trends are you currently seeing in the Mining, Oil and Gas sectors regarding long stay corporate accommodation needs?

Jake: There is a resurgence of resource exploration and extraction in Australia’s remote areas, heightening the demand for long-term corporate accommodation in these locations.

In addition the renewable energy industry is currently experiencing skill shortages due to accelerated growth, resulting in ongoing demand for skilled workers from interstate and overseas, who require corporate accommodation close to project and training sites.

Q: What are the key factors that corporate clients in your sector are looking for when  choosing accommodation for their employees who are relocating or teams working on long stay projects?

Jake: Outside of your mainstays in location, price and amenities, we are seeing a growing focus on wellness as corporate clients increase their focus to ESG. Corporate clients are increasingly recognising the mutual benefits of providing these comforts.

Q: How do you build and maintain long-term relationships with clients in these sectors in such a competitive market?

Jake: Consistently delivering value, understanding operational needs, providing proactive solutions, and fostering trust through regular communication and reliable and quick service. For example mining, oil and gas companies will often operate in cyclone-affected areas. By remaining aware of current events, we can offer support in situations such as demobilisation, or other FIFO challenges clients may be facing. Understanding the ‘why’ of the client’s travel requirements helps us make informed recommendations and better accommodate needs throughout the stay.

Q: What advice would you give to Talent Mobility Specialists when sourcing long-stay accommodation for employees?

Jake: Visit a Quest property and see for yourself what we can offer. The one constant feedback I enjoy receiving is the consistency of product across our properties, no matter the location. All of our properties provide services and amenities to make guests feel at home. Whether it be a welcome pack and personalised letter on arrival, or providing extra in-room items to accommodate overseas travellers and families, all the little things make a huge contribution towards ensuring guests feel valued, and help your guest feel they will always be in great hands.
